Outfitter portrait: Kanawata Outfitters

"A few hours from anywhere, on the edge of nowhere, runs adventure". It is the slogan of Kanawata Outfitters and it describes very well its wild and exclusive rights territory of over 77 km2.

Formerly a guard tower for forest fires that belonged to the St-Maurice Forest Company, it was in 1970 that Mr.Carpentier bought the site and developped a 3500 foot long airplane track and built a few cottages. Following a tragic plane crash that claimed the life of Mr. Capentier, a few year later, in 1990, two doctors from the St Justine Hospital made the acquisition of the outfitter. These two doctors, that were also brothers, built a beautiful lodge with 10 rooms, a bar and a restaurant. Today, the outfitter is owned by a French businessman and you will be delighted  to be greeted by the two managers: Céline & Mario, both warm and welcoming people.

Located at Lake Manouane, Kanawata Outfitters offers a high quality of fishing for pike, walleye, trout and native brook trout. Clients fish directly on Lake Manouane, where the cottages and lodge are located, and on different lakes that are scattered on the exclusive territory.

Linking the Trans Quebec snowmobile trails of Lanaudière and Mauricie regions (trails #33 and #83 respectively), Kanawata Outfitters is a popular snowmobile relay that can accomodate up to 50 people at a time. It is also the ideal place to meet after an ATV ride in the region.

You will be delighted after visiting the Kanawata Outfitter! For more information: www.kanawata.com / (819) 666-2007
